Contributing to the development of safe seismic practices is something that surveyors like PGS take an active role in. By sharing data and allowing research groups onto their vessels, they help to accurately study the potential impacts of seismic surveying on marine environments and help advance the body of research available.
One such example is a published study into the effects of seismic surveying on the catchability of snow crab. Their support and participation with the ESRF, Environmental Studies Research Fund, allowed the study to be performed safely and efficiently.
By working with the fishing industry, local and international research groups and universities, PGS helps ensure that any decisions are based on sound science and collected data.
