“I’m very lucky that I get to stay here in Newfoundland and Labrador and make my career as a musician with the support of the Symphony and all their sponsors, including the local oil and gas industry.”

- Heather Kao

Newfoundland and Labrador’s oil and gas operators and explorers provide funding and support to a variety of charitable organizations and community groups. The contributions and support of industry to the local arts community provides meaningful connections and experiences for people of all ages. For professional artists and musicians looking to build their careers at home, a vibrant, supported arts community allows them to grow their careers right here while sharing their talents and inspiring the next generation.

With program funding from the business community, including oil and gas companies in the province, Heather Kao, Concertmaster of the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra, is finding new and surprising ways to introduce local children to the wonders of classical music.
