“A strong oil and gas industry means that I can stay in Newfoundland and work at a job I love.”

- Lauren Carnell

Meet Lauren Carnell, a Memorial University Commerce graduate. Like many people from Newfoundland and Labrador, she needed to make the difficult choice between staying in the province she calls home or leaving to find work elsewhere. After her first work term with Statoil (now Equinor), in their St. John’s office, she saw her opportunity to stay in a thriving oil and gas industry. Fast forward six years, Lauren now works as Subcontractors Administrator for an international oil and gas engineering solutions company based in St. John’s and couldn’t be happier with her choice.

Lauren knew that taking a job in the Newfoundland and Labrador oil and gas sector ticked all the boxes — staying close friends, being able to care for her grandmother and having a successful career that she loves. And it’s all because she saw the potential from day one.
